Reading list of the week

Our Reading List of the Week is Questioning Criminology from the University of Portsmouth by academic Marc Jacobs.

This list has a very detailed section structure which makes identifying the topic and the importance of each item very easy for students. Many of the key sections contain a sub-section for ‘Section Overview Texts’, followed by sub-sections which are topical. There are also sections which contain sub-sections broken up by importance, for example in the screenshot below.

There is also a ‘recommended reading for this unit’ section at the start of the list which contains all of the items considered ‘essential, key or purchase’. Including all of the essential books at the very start of the list allows the students to prioritise their reading tasks and makes it easy for them to identify these.

Many of the items on the list have very detailed notes, which allow the student to understand context behind the item and why it appears on the list. This can save student time in researching the items before they decide to access online or locate in the library.

The list was created for the 2015-16 year and since its creation in July has had 8162 pageviews, 4530 total clicks and 74 annotations.
