Join us at the ICC Birmingham on the 25th May for a day of interactive workshops.
What To Expect
Join us from 10am – 4pm on the 25th May 2022. Throughout the day, you’ll move around different workshop sessions, hosted by the Talis Team. The event is free to attend and you’ll have been invited as a valuable member of our Talis Aspire community.
How CanLibraries Support Teaching and Learning Within Reading Lists?
Talis have been surveying Academic and Student users of Talis Aspire, to understand from those user groups what works today and what doesn’t in terms of using Talis Aspire as a tool for teaching and learning.
Within this feedback there are themes around the management and support of reading lists that Libraries support today. We are using this opportunity to present those problems and to use the collective community experience and knowledge to look at best practice and solutions in these areas.
The Future of Resources
This workshop will look forward over the next decade to consider how changes to the world around us could impact learning resources within Higher Education.
These changes could be broad (e.g. AI, Web3, decentralisation of services, the Metaverse), from within the sector (shorter modules / micro-qualifications, hybrid teaching, decolonisation, widening participation) or trends within the library domain itself, such as OA/OER.
We will consider these trends and the impact these could have on learning resources in future, from creation to acquisition, discovery to assessment.
Success and How To Measure It
This workshop will explore the idea of what it means to be successful in using Talis Aspire and how that can be communicated to stakeholders. You’ll be sharing your experience and dreams of what success could look like, while learning from others about how they have demonstrated the effectiveness of their service.

OCLC is a nonprofit global library cooperative providing shared technology services, original research, and community programs so that libraries can better fuel learning, research, and innovation. Through OCLC, member libraries cooperatively produce and maintain WorldCat, the most comprehensive global network of data about library collections and services. Libraries gain efficiencies through OCLC's WorldShare, a complete set of library management applications and services built on an open, cloud-based platform. It is through collaboration and sharing of the world’s collected knowledge that libraries can help people find answers they need to solve problems. Together as OCLC, member libraries, staff, and partners make breakthroughs possible.
Billed by the press as the “Spotify for textbooks”, Perlego is on a mission to make education more accessible to all. We have built the first truly unlimited, subscription-based online library. We work with 3,000+ leading publishers to deliver unrestricted access to over 800,000 core titles through one simple membership.
