University of the Highlands and Islands selects Talis Aspire
Following a tender process, the University of the Highlands and Islands (UHI) have selected Talis Aspire to manage their online reading lists. As UHI is comprised of 13 independent colleges and research institutions, the need for a reliable online delivery of resources is key to students and academics.
UHI will be migrating their reading list data from their previous solution, Rebus:list and we will be integrating with their Library Management System, Innovative Sierra. With Talis Aspire, UHI have selected to use the Talis Player, giving them increased analytics on resources. UHI will also be among the first to use the new and improved list edit feature in Talis Aspire.
Ruth Priest, University Librarian at UHI said “The University of the Highlands and Islands is delighted to be joining with Talis to provide Reading List Software for our students, academic staff and librarians. As a geographically dispersed institution, we are constantly looking at ways to ensure an equivalence of service at our 14 campus libraries across the region, as well as to our many distance learning students. Talis Aspire offers us a way to ensure consistency in the management of reading lists, despite the dispersed nature of our library and teaching staff.”
Ruth added, “Next year we will move to a new VLE, one of our main methods of teaching. Talis Aspire impressed us with the high level of integration with the different VLEs on offer. In addition we liked the bookmarking tool which allows lecturers to create their own reading lists without fuss. Library staff are also looking forward to using the built-in workflows for reading list approval and stock management.”
