Bishop Grosseteste University select Talis Aspire for their first reading list system
Bishop Grosseteste University have selected Talis Aspire to manage their online reading lists and copyright management. The decision was made by their Reading List Task Force, set up in 2017 and led by the Head of Library Services.
The task force had two main goals, firstly to “implement practical solutions to improve the presentation, dissemination and accessibility of reading lists for the benefit of students, academics and the library team”. It also aimed to “encourage discussion and dialogue about the relationship between reading lists and pedagogy, reading lists and student satisfaction and the importance of effective library/academic partnerships, with a view to enhancing the student experience.”
Emma Sansby, Head of Library Services, welcomes the partnership “We were looking for a reading list solution that was well-established and reliable with a proactive development programme and a good reputation. We think we’ve found what we were looking for in Talis Aspire and are excited about working with the Talis team to build a system that meets our needs. We intend to introduce Talis Aspire to students from September 2018 as part of a two-year phased implementation and, to that end, members of the library team will continue to work closely with academics colleagues and student representatives, all of which were represented on the Reading List Task Force, to achieve the project goals. Never having had a reading list management system before this is a significant step for us, especially for the library team in terms of the potential for streamlining collection development and acquisitions processes, and we are eager to get started. ”
Bishop Grosseteste University will be integrating Talis Aspire with their LMS and discovery platform, OCLC’s WMS and WorldCat, and also with the Blackboard virtual learning environment.
