Welcoming David Renfree to the Talis Services Team

David Renfree

I’m David, the newest Support Consultant in the Talis Services team.

I’ve spent the last 18 years gaining experience in libraries within Higher Education. Initially, I worked as a Graduate Trainee Library Assistant at Dartington College of Arts in Devon. Later I returned to study and gained an MSc in Information and Library Management.

In recent years I worked at University College Birmingham. Starting as a Subject Librarian supporting education courses, I later moved onto managing various Online Systems. So at various times I’ve done many roles within an academic library, and have seen many changes to technology and working practices, including the implementation and set up of Talis Aspire.

When I’m not working I’m a keen cyclist – last year I completed the 100 mile Velo Birmingham bike ride – and spend many of my weekends in record shops hunting for obscure compilations of soul music.

I’m looking forward to sharing my experience of academic libraries with both customers and the wider Talis team, and will do my best to support users in getting the most from the services we provide. Hopefully, I’ll meet many of you soon during visits or at the upcoming Talis Insight Europe 2018 event in May.
