Aston University switches to Talis Aspire to improve the student experience and drive further efficiencies

Aston University have selected Talis Aspire to manage and deliver their online reading lists, moving from their current system, rebus:list, in order to drive library workflows and acquisitions efficiencies.
They plan to enhance the student experience by enabling the integration of Talis Aspire Reading Lists, using Talis Learning Tools Interoperability (LTI) tools with their Learning Management System, Blackboard. Talis Aspire will be integrated with the Sierra Library System from Innovative and EBSCO Discovery Tool. With plans to roll out Talis Aspire for student use in time for the new academic year, the Talis Services Team will be working closely with the team at Aston University, migrating their existing reading lists into Talis Aspire Reading Lists.
“Aston has well established practices using an alternative reading list system which are linked to both delivery of lists through our virtual learning environment and to regular module updating. We are excited by the ways in which Talis Aspire will allow us to improve on this for academics, students and librarians. In particular, our academics have been asking for the ability to subdivide lists and embed relevant parts into their teaching. We are also keen to take advantage of the book ordering workflows and the analytics to allow us to better understand how lists are used and their benefits to the learning process.” said Heather Whitehouse, Director of Information Resources and Research Services, Aston University.
“We are pleased to welcome Aston as the 77th institution in the UK to join the Talis Aspire community. Aston University were ranked second by the Times Higher Education for Teaching Quality and we look forward to supporting their continued success in the area of teaching and learning.” said David Errington, CEO of Talis.
