Our Reading List of the Week is Introduction to Academic and Research Skills for Degree Study in Sport, University of Bedfordshire from academic Ping Wu.
This list is split up into sections by importance; ‘core text’, ‘guided reading’ and ‘independent study’. This helps the student to quickly understand what needs to be read first and allocate a time to do their reading tasks, for example, if it is required for the exam, or to be read before the lecture.
What is especially useful about this list, is that the guided reading section is divided by weekly subsections, keeping the list organised and quickly directing the student to specific items.
Notes are added to sections to explain how to approach the items, for example ‘To receive high grades you will need to demonstrate your wider reading. The following resources provide useful background reading for the material in this unit’. Items also have notes to guide the students on how to access the items, as shown in the screenshot above.
The list was created around a year ago for around 80 students and has had 592 page views and 202 item clicks.
