Reading List of the Week – Early literacy and numeracy, Monash University

Reading list of the week

Our Reading List of the Week is Early literacy and numeracy from Monash University by academic Dr Jennifer Rennie, maintained by the library team.

The list is split up into sections by week, to help guide the student through reading tasks, making it clear what is required for each weekly class. This helps the students to get on top of their reading tasks and prioritise their time.

Selecting chapters only and adding notes such as “p1-13” helps the student focus on the key parts of the resource and understand what will be important for the upcoming class.

Some sections do not contain items, but instructions instead. Including sections like this make it clear what is required of the student, keeping all of the information about the module in one place, which we know is important for students. Shown in screenshots below, the student is asked to “Review reading from first five weeks” or is given questions to help them with “synthesising your readings”.
