A recap: Talis Insight Europe 2016 – Day Two!

Natalie Naik

The whole Talis team would like to extend a huge thank you to our speakers, partners and to all of the attendees who made Talis Insight Europe 2016 so enjoyable for all. Here’s what day two looked like…

The second day started with a talk from Liz Jolly, Chair of SCONUL and Director of the Library at Teesside University, who reminded us that we need to put the learner at the centre of everything we do and that we all need to keep learning.

After Liz, we heard from Simon Thomson, Head of Digital Pedagogy at Leeds Beckett University, who explained to us how to teach and engage people at various levels of understanding and gave us the acronym ‘CAVE’, ‘Colleagues Against Virtually Everything’.

Talis Product Manager, Keji Adedeji delivered her Talis Aspire Update, explaining what we’ve been doing over the last year and what we can expect for this year – a really useful and detailed session

After lunch, we held the final breakout sessions of the conference, before closing with a keynote from Martin Hamilton, Futurist from JISC. Apart from impressing us with a space-age job title, he explained why “It’s the end of the world as we know it” and why we need to ‘think big’.

We also handed out chocolate gifts to our top tweeters, it was great to see so many get involved this year, sharing their opinion and engaging in debate around the topics. Check out #TalisInsight on Twitter for some great ‘insights’ from the audience.
