Reading List of the Week – University of Auckland, Marketing

Reading list of the week

Our Reading List of the Week is BusAdmin 762 Marketing, from the University of Auckland, New Zealand from lecturer Tom Agee.

One of the great features of this list is that it is broken up weekly. This helps the student work through the course content in the order, they are then able to prioritise material and keep on top of their reading tasks whilst being able to track back to any items easily. This should help them prepare for each week, making it easier for them to arrive to each class with the required level of knowledge.

The lecturer has also added notes on a large number of the items on the list, to give the students a better idea of the context of the item and how it fits in with other reading, e.g. ‘An important follow up to Prahalad and Ramaswamy’s article that will help you understand the theory in practice’. Notes are also useful here to to help students be more selective when reading, e.g. ‘Read Chapter 4: Building Long Term Customer Relationships’.

We love it when academics add details to the lists, such as notes, or sections focusing on wider reading, in order to help the students further and make their reading more effective. This list was used for the final semester in 2015 and assigned to approximately 50 students, this list had 1140 page views, 684 total clicks and 99 annotations.
