Recap : Talis Aspire Open Day in London on 27th November 2014

Talis Open Day, London 27th November
The last in our series of autumn Talis Open days was held in London on Thursday with the emphasis on prospective new customers and those just wanting to find out a little more about Talis Aspire Reading Lists and Talis Aspire Digitised Content Modules. As new members of the Talis Sales team, hosting our first Open Day, Nigel Ashworth and myself both found the event extremely useful and were glad that the session went off without a hitch.
One of the main draws for attending a Talis Open Day is, not to listen to us at Talis, but to hear from existing Talis subscribers. We had the pleasure of hearing two entertaining and informative presentations from Annette Coates, Content Services Manager at Northumbria University and Jo Myhill, Head of Academic Liaison & Research Librarian at the University of Bedfordshire. Both speakers not only gave us the benefit of their practical experience of working with Talis, but also how they are using Talis services to shape their library and institutional strategies, especially with regards to improving their student experience and NSS scores.
Both presentations are available to access below.
We also enjoyed a great session with Tim Hodson of the Talis Services team who talked us through the role of the Services team and the implementation process. Tim also shared some of the work we have been doing to further improve the flexibility of the integration of Talis Aspire Reading Lists with VLE platforms, though the use of LTI protocols, allowing lists to be embedded at full and/or section level.

Judging by the levels of engagement, questions, discussion and feedback, I am confident that the day was a great success, with everyone leaving better informed and with their own action plans.
