Meet Alison Chojna from LSBU, and find out what they are doing with Digitised Content
November is fast approaching, so is our Digitised Content Open day! It is a great opportunity to not only find out more about what we do, but also to hear from our customers. They use Digitised Content to respond to their students demand for better resources everyday. Who better to talk about what that means?
On 6th November, at our London event, Alison Chojna from London South Bank University (LSBU) has kindly offered to speak. Before we get there, here is a chance to get to know her a little more. Some responses from Alison, in her own words:
Please introduce yourself and tell us about your role(s) at LSBU
Hello, my name is Alison Chojna and I’m the Assistant Director of our Library and Learning Resources department and also Head of the Academic Liaison team.
What do you see is the main role of the library in supporting teaching and learning at LSBU?
It’s difficult for me to pick just one but broadly speaking our role is to make resources available and accessible to students, and then support them to develop the information literacy skills they will need throughout their lives.
What are your key objectives for the library in the next 12 months?
We are transforming many of our online systems at both a Library and wider University level to meet the changing needs and expectations of our students.
What are the key challenges/problems you sought to address with Digitised Content?
At a very basic level, we want to make as much of the recommended reading available to as many students as possible. Our previous digitisation service had been under-utilised by academic staff.
What are the anticipated and/or realised key benefits for Digitised Content at LSBU
We hope to increase students satisfaction by making the reading materials readily available to them. At LSBU, we have Talis Aspire reading lists for all active modules and we are currently working with academic staff on the quality of their reading lists.
Briefly, what can people expect to hear from you on the 6th November, at the Talis Open day?
On the 6th November, people can expect to hear about our journey so far. We’re at quite an early stage, having gone live to staff in the last few months.
