Press Release: London School of Economics and Political Science Selects Talis Aspire
Talis, a market-leader in Education Technology, today announces that it has been selected by The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) to provide the School with its Talis Aspire application.
‘We expect Aspire to be a catalyst for change in our teaching support services and to transform and significantly improve the services we offer to taught-course students over the next twelve months.’
Talis will provide advanced resource-management capabilities to the School, replacing the existing reading-list system. With the adoption of Talis Aspire, students will get access to curated resources, lecturers will create and maintain reading-lists appropriate to the course and module, and the library will get advanced systems integrations that enable it to support learning-driven acquisitions.
Martin Reid, Head of Academic Services at the LSE, said:
‘We are very pleased to be implementing Talis Aspire at LSE. It was the obvious choice for us when we were looking to replace our previous in-house reading-list management system. It provides all the functionality we were looking for combined with flexibility and a user-centred approach which is in line with our strategy of providing innovative and flexible services beyond our walls.’
He also commented that:
‘We expect Aspire to be a catalyst for change in our teaching support services and to transform and significantly improve the services we offer to taught-course students over the next twelve months. During that time we will be working with academics and support staff to configure the system to their needs and produce a service which can be used across the School by summer 2013. There is a lot of excitement amongst Library staff about the system and real eagerness to start using it.’
Providing online access to teaching materials and resources is core to the School’s strategy and will enable LSE Library Services to reach its users ‘wherever they may be’. The library will build on its resource-management systems with the selection of the Talis Aspire reading-list application, which will integrate with the Moodle virtual learning environment, and the School’s research repository as well as the Voyager library management system and Summon discovery service.
